Adelaide’s Premier
Infrared & Finnish Sauna Facility
At Fast Twitch, our leading-edge infrared sauna is a comfortable and safe way to relax your body, all while gaining potential health benefits. With technical advancements, infrared heating is widely recognised as a safe way to raise body temperatures. Infrared heating is even used in hospitals to help raise and maintain the body temperature for newborn babies.
Infrared is actually an invisible light spectrum, meaning that anything within distance of the beam of light will feel the heat. For example, the Sun is the main source of infrared heat that we all know (and love!) and these wavelengths work by penetrating the body deeply and raising your internal core temperature. The effect of this penetration is that infrared light works on bodily tissues to promote healing.
Benefits of Infrared Sauna
-
One of the biggest infrared sauna health benefits is its ability to increase your blood circulation and stimulate the sweat glands, releasing built-up toxins in the body.
Daily sauna sweating can help detoxify your body as it rids itself of accumulated highly toxic metals (lead, mercury, nickel, and cadmium) as well as alcohol, nicotine, sulphuric acid, and other organic and inorganic compounds.
-
The profuse sweating achieved after just a few minutes in the infrared sauna carries off deeply embedded impurities and dead skin cells, leaving the skin glowing and immaculately clean. Increased circulation draws your skin’s own natural nutrients to the surface.
You’ll see improved tone, elasticity, texture and fresh colour. Increased blood circulation has also been shown to relieve acne, eczema, psoriasis, burns, lesions and cuts. In addition, open wounds heal more quickly, reducing scarring.
-
Just a few minutes in the gentle warmth of an infrared sauna will help you feel relaxed, rejuvenated and renewed. It’s a great time to get away and release any built-up tension and stress. It’s like having a day spa in your home, open all the time for your convenience. Infrared Saunas have also been shown to affect the autonomic nervous system putting you in the parasympathetic (rest and digest) state allowing your body to heal.
-
Regular use of an infrared sauna imparts a similar boost on the cardiovascular system to running. As you relax in the gentle infrared heat, your body is hard at work producing sweat, pumping blood and burning calories. As your body increases sweat production to cool itself, your heart works harder to pump blood at a greater rate to boost circulation. This increase in your metabolism will burn calories.
-
The deep heating from the Jacuzzi® Sauna True Wave II™ infrared heaters will raise your core body temperature, inducing an artificial fever. How does this benefit the body? Fever is the body’s natural mechanism to strengthen and accelerate the immune response, as seen in the case of infection. This enhanced immune system, combined with improved elimination of toxins and wastes via intense sweating, increases your overall health and resistance to disease.
-
Increased blood circulation carries off metabolic waste products and delivers oxygen-rich blood to oxygen-depleted muscle, so they recover faster. Muscles relax best when tissues are warm, for greater flexibility and range of motion. Far Infrared heat relieves muscle tension and the deep heat of far infrared saunas help peripheral blood vessels dilate, bringing relief and healing to muscle and soft tissue injuries.
-
Time spent in an infrared sauna benefits patients suffering from many forms of arthritis. Radiant heat has also been effective in the treatment of sprains, neuralgia, bursitis, muscle spasms, joint stiffness and many other muscular-skeletal ailments. Much of the stiffness, aches and soreness that comes with ageing is reduced or eliminated.
-
Cellulite refers to superficial pockets of trapped fat, which cause uneven dimpling or “orange peel” skin. It appears in 90% of post-adolescent women and is rarely seen in men. Common but not exclusive areas where cellulite is found are the buttocks, thighs, and the abdomen. Contrary to popular belief, cellulite is not related to obesity, and the appearance of cellulite is not always reduced by weight loss.

The sauna will be preheated before your session. Generally the sauna only requires 15 minutes to warm up prior to your session. Our Clearlight saunas are based on the infrared wavelength and not cabin temperature.
-
For most people, daily sauna use is okay after your body has become accustomed to infrared therapy. Drink increased amounts of water to stay hydrated. Listen to your body and stop your session if you feel any discomfort.
-
The recommended session time is 25-35 minutes. Some people are in their sauna for longer or shorter sessions depending on their preference and overall health. Starting with shorter sessions (about 15 to 20 minutes) and slowly increasing your session time may be recommended if you have conditions to warrant this.
-
Chromotherapy, also called colour light therapy, is the process of restoring balance to the body by applying colour. Many people use chromotherapy lights in an infrared sauna to achieve the wellness benefits of colour light therapy.
-
It’s important to note that you do not have to set the temperature setting high. Many people prefer 46° to 55°. In time you will find what is best for you. Keeping the thermostat at 55° will ensure that the heaters stay on during your whole sauna session allowing you to receive optimal infrared heat. If it’s starting to feel too warm, you can either lower the temperature or just open the door a crack to let in some cool air.

We recommend wearing loose fitting clothing made from natural fibres or a swimsuit of some sort.

There are multiple Full Spectrum infrared heaters located at the front, side and rear of the sauna. These heaters are high output infrared heaters producing near, mid and far infrared.
The following are some of the benefits of full spectrum infrared therapy:
Near Infrared
The shortest wavelength, and will be absorbed just below the surface of the skin creating a sweat that promotes healing and revitalisation.
Mid Infrared
A longer wavelength that can penetrate deeper into the body’s soft tissue increasing circulation, releasing oxygen to reach injured areas.
Far Infrared
The longest wavelength which penetrates the fat cells causing vasodilation, where the fat cells vibrate to expel toxins, resulting in the greatest levels of detoxification and stimulate your metabolism to aid in weight-loss.

While using, the heaters are safe to lean on with heater cover intact. Do not touch the bare heater surface when the heaters are on, or have recently been on.

Bamboo Carbon fiber is made with selected four-year-old bamboo. The Bamboo Carbon is air dried, then charred at 800ºC and ground into fine nano particles. It is added into extruded synthetic fibers to create yarn and then woven into fabric. The structure and composition of bamboo gives Bamboo Carbon a high surface area. It also gives off a variety of minerals. It has unique attributes of odor absorption, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, excellent absorbency and infrared emission.
